Mackenzie turned professional in the summer of 2016 when she embarked on her journey as a singer songwriter. Her two tattoos (a hummingbird and the name "Hummingbird") pay homage to her young life when she was nicknamed Hummingbird because of her tendency to play alone somewhere while humming made up melodies. Mackenzie reports this as the only career she imagined for herself since she was the age of four years.
In the last few years Mackenzie's musical journey has "taken off" and, at times, seems to be blessed. Mackenzie’s journey has taken her to performances in the cities of Chicago, Milwaukee, Madison, Austin, Los Angeles, Denver, and Nashville. Her talent has brought her interest from professionals in The US, England, and Ireland.
Mackenzie toured Nashville in July of 2017 with Artie Kornfeld (The Woodstock Fest. founder and former VP at Capitol Records) after being noticed by Artie’s agent. During this trip she met with a Nashville based producer and a working relationship was founded. This allowed Mackenzie the opportunity to meet and write with top Nashville writers that have earned distinctions such as being grammy nominated, CMA nominated, and being BMI’s top money earner. Mackenzie has since branched out and worked with other production teams and producers in Music City. Mackenzie currently performs between the cities of Chicago and Madison as well as continued performances in Nashville.
Mackenzie discovered her instrumental abilities at the age of 14 when she picked up a guitar out of boredom and proceeded to teach herself to play. After picking up that guitar, she reported feeling as if the clouds parted and her brain was unlocked. It was at this time that she fully realized that this would become her life journey. Mackenzie learned to play some banjo as well but her voice set her apart. She has been applauded by industry insiders like John Oates (Hall N Oates), Artie Kornfeld, Chris Gantry (former writer for Johnny Cash and Glen Campbell), Lee Ann Womack (Country Singer) and Courtney Burns (Senior Talent Producer at The Voice). In December of 2018, Mackenzie's talent was recognized and she was awarded a grant funded by The National Endowment for The Arts to aid her in developing her craft in 2019.
In 2019 Mackenzie released a CD (Ready For Change) and three full videos with one being shot in Nashville and the other Two in Chicagoland and Southern Wisconsin. She continues to explore professional partnerships in Nashville and beyond. This has led to a recent partnership with Merf Music Nashville and a plan to release a Merf Music produced single in the summer of 2020. She is thankful to the so many folks who have seen something in her and blessed her path along the way!
Mackenzie introduced her band in 2019 and in their first year they have already appeared at various venues and fests that have included BubCity Rosemont, FireWater Chicago, WGN TV's Midday News, The Kenosha County and Walworth County Fairs, The Summer Solstice Fest, and the Highwood Nashwood Fest.

CD: READY FOR CHANGE
"Ready For Change" is a collection of original songs recorded in two of Nashville's top studios with the support of many of Nashville's top session players. The session players on "Ready for Change" have played with numerous industry icons such as Sheryl Crow, Tim McGraw, Thomas Rhett, Jason Mraz, Luke Combs, Toby Keith, Cheap Trick, Blake Shelton, Carrie Underwood, Dolly Parton, Keith Urban, Lionel Richie, and One Direction.
Mackenzie teamed with Nashville based producer Bill McDermott on "Ready for Change" and a collection of original songs were chosen that highlight her emergence as a sought after and thoughtful song writer. Mackenzie now writes with teams in Nashville, Chicago, and the greater USA via scheduled Skype writes.
"Ready For Change" Includes fuller sounding productions like "Anything Other than This" and "We're all Screwed Up" and the more acoustically toned songs "Too Much to Ask" and "Sure Thing". Music videos for three of the songs ("Can't Put My Finger On It", "Growing Pains" and "Anything Other Than This") are available or will be available online by the end of August 2019.
